Most vintage fountain pens need some work before they write: a new ink sac, a cleaned feed, a straightened nib. Simple resacs are a good first repair to learn; anything involving a cracked barrel, a piston filler or a valuable nib is better sent to a professional. Ask about waiting times before you send a pen, as the best-known repairers often have long queues.
