National Geographic counted only about six people worldwide doing what Richard Binder does. When this short film was made he had been repairing fountain pens professionally for about 15 years, working from his home in Nashua, New Hampshire, and it shows the care he takes over each pen. It was produced and filmed by Jason Kurtis and edited by Nick Lunn.
Richard was a regular Pentrace contributor and answered readers' questions as The Pen Doctor. His biography tells how he came to the hobby and to repair, and Care and Feeding: How to Replace a Pen Sac shows the kind of work in this film. The rest of his articles are on his author page.
