Doodles

My pen held poised above the page

Ready to write words of life, love and rage

Elusive words hiding in the mists of memory

Occasionally popping up to taunt me.

Time marches slowly on, the minutes passing by

The page still blank and crisp and white

Ink drying on the nib, not on the paper

My great idea, vanishing into the night.

Frustration quickly grips my mind

The nib drops to the parchment

Lines appear, a face, a shape

Doodles, not words, describe my heroes fate
