Michael Scharf
am 49, British and live in Brussels, Belgium, where I have been working for 25 years selling industrial chemicals and plastics - which involves regular travel around Europe. Married to Rosaria and have two teenage kids.
I became interested in pens at age 13 when I received a lovely, blue Sheaffer PFM III from my grandfather - it saw me through school and university, still have it today. After a long gap I got into vintage Pelikan - not too expensive, they usually work well after 50 years and have lovely nibs - and are easy to find in nearby Germany. This collection has kind of come to a halt since I have one of each of the main shapes, except for the elusive/expensive 100 desk pen. I then became attracted to modern Italians, (beautiful), fat pens (comfy), filling systems (intriguing) and calligraphy (difficult :) ).
I usually attend the Brussels, Belgium, the Tilburg, Netherlands and the Cologne, Germany pen shows with a table - really an excuse to meet friends.
Other interests): cycling, walking, medieval literature, baroque music
